Face Lift

Aging of the face is inevitable, and with time the skin of the face and neck loosen. Age, sun exposure, gravity, and genetics all contribute to skin changes. Fine lines become wrinkles, and gradually deeper folds. The jaw line softens into jowls, and beneath the chin excess skin starts to sag. Facelift surgery can help reverse the harmful effects of time, stress, and the elements.

A facelift restores a refreshed, youthful contour to loose skin and softens wrinkles without looking tight or unnatural. Sometimes an eyelid lift is a complementary procedure that can create total facial rejuvenation. Others may be happier with their results if they combine face lift surgery with other procedures, such as a neck lift or forehead lift (also called “brow lift”). Patients who understand both the possibilities of a face lift and its limitations tend to be more pleased with their results.

If you are considering plastic surgery, please schedule a consultation with Dr. Young to discuss your options.

Eyelid Surgery

The eyes are the focal point of the face and contribute substantially to your overall facial appearance. One of the most popular procedures in facial rejuvenation, the blepharoplasty, can help a person look fresher and younger. Bags beneath the eyes, wrinkled droopy layers of skin on the eyelids and sagging eyebrows give the face a perpetually tired expression. Aesthetic eyelid surgery can brighten the face and restore a more youthful appearance by reducing the fat and extra skin that cause these conditions. The procedure can also address functional problems posed by extremely droopy eyelids, including impaired vision.

Blepharoplasty is often performed along with a face lift or with other rejuvenating facial procedures. As we age the layer of fat normally found inside the bony orbit surrounding the globe of the eye may protrude into the eyelid area causing bulging in the upper or lower eyelids, or both. This bulging often begins in the forties and is frequently an inherited condition. Eyelid surgery can correct these problems leaving you looking more rested and alert. But it can't eliminate dark circles under the eyes, lift sagging eyebrows, or remove crow's feet or other wrinkles. Sometimes, blepharoplasty is performed along with a facelift or brow lift.

Nose Reshaping

Rhinoplasty or surgery to reshape the nose is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures. It is used to reduce or (far less often) increase the size of the nose, change its shape, remove a bump, correct a deviated septum, narrow the span of the nostrils, change the angle between the nose and the lip, or correct a birth defect or injury. It can be performed on persons of any age (though the minimum is usually 14 or 15, when the growth spurt is concluded), and sometimes more than once.

Bear in mind that rhinoplasty is not solely a cosmetic procedure. Procedures performed for reconstructive purposes, to correct a breathing problem or a marked deformity following injury, may be covered by health insurance. This surgery can restore balance and harmony to the face and boost self-confidence. . The main goal is to create a nose that subtly blends into the overall features of the face and proper proportions rather than to create a new nose that draws attention to itself.

Nose surgery can enhance your appearance but may not change your looks to match your ideal. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Young to discuss your expectations and concerns about the results.

Microneedling/PRP Therapy

WHAT IS PRP?

Platelet rich plasma or PRP contains concentrated amounts of platelets and growth factors that help promote new tissue and boost healthy cell production. PRP uses your own platelets to stimulate skin cells to produce more collagen, grown new cells and rejuvenate skin.

PRP facials are appropriate for individuals with mild to moderate signs of aging. Patients should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations for the procedure.

SKINPEN® FILLERS AND INJECTABLES

As we age and battle skin conditions, the natural architecture of our skin deteriorates, which leads to fine lines, wrinkles, large pores, and uneven skin texture. Collagen induction therapy, also known at micro-needling, is a great way to address these signs of aging at the cellular level. Micro-needling comfortably creates though of micro-injuries in the skin to trigger the body’s natural wound healing process. This results in skin remodeling, including the formation of collagen and elastin, the two proteins predominantly responsible for the structure of the skin. The outcome is beautiful, youthful looking skin.

This is a short procedure, approximately 30 minutes with mild post-procedure effects similar to a mild to moderate sunburn. It is effective on all body parts including face, neck and décolletage. It is safe for all skin type, light to dark and can be done any time of the year with little to no downtime and lasting results.

Fillers & Injectables

Palmetto Plastic Surgery in North Charleston, South Carolina, can help you diminish wrinkles, soften fine lines, plump lips, and temporarily halt the effects of gravity and time with name-brand injectables such as Botox ™, Dysport ™, Evolence ™, Radiesse Perlane ™, Restylane ™ and Juvederm ™. The wrinkle-reducing effects of these injectables are not permanent, but the result is instant.

Botox ™, a natural purified protein, is proven to be ultra-safe and effective in refreshing your face. By reducing the activity of the muscle, it temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, crows feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck.

The Restylane ™ line of products offers tailored treatments for individual, natural-looking results that immediately refresh and replenish wrinkles, restore facial contour, and renew your look with natural, beautiful results. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in your skin. Dermal fillers augment the body’s supply which has become depleted with age. Injected dermal fillers smooth out scars, wrinkles and folds on the face, such as lines from your nose to the corner of your mouth. You still look like yourself – only more refreshed.

Dysport ™ is a simple and effective wrinkle treatment that works by relaxing facial muscles on the forehead thus reducing frown lines and wrinkles. It is an alternative to Botox™.

The filler Radiesse ™ is unique in that it contains no human or animal derived components, and it stimulates the body to produce new collagen over time. It produces soft, natural age-defying results.

As with any procedures risks are involved. Dr. Young, a board certified plastic surgeon is highly trained in surgical and non-surgical techniques with a thorough understanding of facial anatomy. Dr. Young is dedicated to looking at each patient individually, effectively, and safely evaluating your goals and recommending the appropriate filler to achieve the best possible result.

Forehead Lift

A brow lift (forehead lift) will raise your eyebrows to a higher and more aesthetic position. It will also improve lateral hoods (which are the droopy flaps of skin that hang over the outside corner of your eyes. The surgery can correct drooping eyebrows, furrows and horizontal lines (frown lines) along the forehead, and furrowed lines above the nose. The forehead lift can be performed as a less-invasive endoscopic procedure which allows for a smaller incision and faster healing and is often combined with a facelift or eyelid surgery. It will restore a more youthful, refreshed look to the area above the eyes.

Candidates for the forehead lift include men and women who are looking to improve an aged, tired or droopy appearance of the forehead area. Patients often complain of forehead lines which make them appear angry, tired or sad. The majority of patients are in the forty to sixty age group, though surgery can be performed on younger patients if necessary. A consultation with Dr. Young will help to determine if the forehead lift is right for you.

Ear Reshaping

Ear surgery or Otoplasty surgery corrects prominent or protruding ears and sets them back closer to the head or reduces them in size. This cosmetic issue is unrelated to the aging process.

Prominent ears are extremely common. There are varying degrees of ear shape issues, ranging from very mild projection or prominence with normal ear folds and contours, to dramatic prominence with poorly defined folds ("bat ears"), to more substantial size, shape and fold concerns.

Often, the operation is done on children between the ages of 4 and 14. Ears are almost fully grown by age 4, and the earlier the surgery, the less teasing and ridicule the child will have to endure. Ear surgery on adults is also common, and there are generally no additional risks associated with ear surgery on an older patient. For children, pinning the ears is a common technique used during otoplasty to achieve the desired result. In adults, surgeons may also reshape or reduce the size of the ears to help them appear symmetrical and streamlined with the contours of the face. Even if only one ear protrudes, most surgeons will treat both ears to produce aesthetically pleasing results.
